At 14 years of age Tilly Jones has been composing music for orchestra and plays five instruments. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy, ADHD and aspergers, Tilly has refused to let her health challenges stop her reaching her high goals.

Background to project

Tilly’s Symphony was made as part of the Createability series for ABC iView, supported by Create NSW and Screenworks. It was broadcast on ABC TV as well as Virgin Australian domestic airlines in 2017. It won the Judges Choice for documentary at the Focus on Ability Short Film Festival.

The key objective of CREATEABILITY is to profile work produced by artists with disability through identified arts organisations and screen media.

This film has had a wonderful snowball effect for Tilly’s musical career since it’s release. In 2017 she was invited to professionally collaborate with the Australian Chamber Orchestra for their Move program which works with young adults with a disability. Read more about this here.

In the same year, Tilly was also invited to compose music for a film festival “Cinema Touching Disability” in Austin, Texas and perform in person at the screening of the film there.
